We welcome people of all backgrounds and singing abilities, and the project is FREE.
You don’t need any experience – just your enthusiasm!
The only commitment we ask from you is your time! We want it to be a truly life-changing experience. We have first-rate professionals working with us on this project – musicians, voice coaches, composers, and singers – who will all be there to support you.

Why get involved?
For your health and well-being
The Bloom Britannia project enables people to sing on a weekly basis in a fun and supportive way as you learn the opera over the coming year.
A growing body of evidence highlights the many positive impacts singing can have on physical and mental well-being. It’s official – singing is medicine!
Sing weekly with experienced professionals
Barefoot Opera’s team, led by leading singing coach and director Jenny Miller, will guide and support participants from learning the opera, right through to rehearsals and performances in the Autumn.
Make friends, combat isolation
Meet with the same group every week, working towards the same goal. The project expands your personal and social horizons, and brings you closer to others.
Be a part of something amazing!
A chance to be part of the making of an exciting, professional new opera, working with leading professional musicians and singers. This project really is a one-off: a new, fully professional opera, written by a leading composer, involving local people from the outset.
Do something totally different
Taking part can expand horizons – who knows where it might take you. Perhaps you will join a choir, start a choir of your own, or simply start singing more at home… maybe you will discover a new genre of music.
You might seek a change of direction in life, or get more involved with our local community. For children and young people, this experience could change their whole future…opening their minds to new possibilities and outlets for expression.
