What is the vision? In collaboration with internationally recognised librettist duo Stephen Plaice and Marcia Bellamy, distinguished composer Dominique Le Gendre is creating an original love story between a mermaid and a sea-captain that tells the astonishing story of Rye over four centuries. Her company, StrongBack Productions, is co-producing with Barefoot Opera, and we have already established strong links with the Marsh choirs, Rye Youth Zone, Music Lifeline (a new Rye-based children’s choir) and Rebekah Gilbert’s Rye Bay Crew.
