It takes a town to make an opera: Bloom Britannia

Our new short film, made with Red Kite Films, documents the joy of taking part in the our ‘people’s opera’. Thrown off course by the pandemic, the power of the music remains, and the participants look forward to the return of the project in 2021…and bringing more people along for the ride!

Filmed in Hastings, St. Leonards and Bexhill in December 2020. Also featuring footage from a rehearsal performance at the De La Warr Pavilion in 2019.

With extracts from Bloom Britannia, composed by Orlando Gough with librettist Stephen Plaice, commissioned by Barefoot Opera.

With thanks to the Good Governance Institute and the Arts Council of England for their support in the making of the film.
